This series arose from a desire to bring living plant material into my practice. Barley grass is a versatile and beautiful medium that allows me to explore life, death, and transformation in many different ways. The act of growing, cultivating, and witnessing the decline of this plant material gives me a greater understanding of natural processes in general. I am able to highlight the different phases of life through playful experimentation, and I hope to instill viewers with a sense of curiousity and awe for this common plant. I believe that looking at the other living things on this planet with an altered perspective can make life feel more cohesive.
